Business Writing, 3 hrs. Fall, Spring & Summer; W & S designators: Emphasis on advanced applied business writing genres: specialized letters and memoranda, resumes, proposals, analytical and fact-finding reports, and other essential forms of professional communication and research. Course Description: This course emphasizes advanced applied business writing genres, such as specialized letters and memoranda, resumes, proposals, analytical and fact-finding reports, and other essential forms of professional communication and research. ENG 3090 is recommended as preparation for ENG 3100.

  • Improve your professional speaking skills
  • Learn various written and oral communication styles and strategies
  • Discover research methods suitable for professionals

Course Requirements:

You will:

  • Write one memo report on reading and writing in the professions
  • Write one letter report, either a proposal, feasibility study, or needs assessment
  • Write one audience analysis report
  • Present two oral progress reports, with accompanying written reports
  • Complete a variety of in-class assignments

Methods of Teaching: Lectures, discussion, individual writing, group writing, and reading.
